Customer Satisfaction honors are determined by a variety of factors, including the number and quality of client reviews a professional received in 2013. Design award winners’ work was the most popular among the more than 16 million monthly users on Houzz.

In 2012, GRB received GreenBuilder’s Best Aging-in-Place Home Award for the custom Universal Design home we built for Ron Knecht in Catlett, a small town in Fauquier County, Virginia. GreenBuilder says, “Combining ADA-compliant design with green features is a win-win for this project’s sustainability.”
Joel Barkman, owner of GRB, was named 2010 Business Person of the Year byFauquier County Chamber, who said, “Barkman has worked tirelessly in the building industry as chapter president of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association, and has volunteered on many committees including the Fauquier County Business Advisory Council, and numerous others. He is a respected Elder in his church, and has helped those in need by making contributions and raising funds for the area’s homeless shelters and for those in need of affordable housing. A leader in the “green building” movement, this year’s winner is a proponent of responsible building practices, sustainable design, and environmental stewardship – all of which help make for a stronger Fauquier County.”
This prestigious award is given to the builder member of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association who shows great leadership, business accomplishments, special activities and contributions to the Association and community. The 2009 Builder of the Year award went to Joel Barkman, Golden Rule Builders.
