Joel built the first Golden Rule home in Fauquier County over 25 years ago. Since then he has continued to build a reputation on quality, service, and community. More recently he was named the 2009 Builder of the Year by the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) and the 2010 Business Person of the Year by the Fauquier County Chamber of Commerce.
Joel spends much of his free time serving on building industry and community committees such as the Balanced Growth Alliance, Business Advisory Council, Transportation Committee, NVBIA Council, The Custom Builders Council, and Remodeler’s Advantage. Joel and his wife Patty have five children and are active members of the Dayspring Mennonite Church. He also serves on the boards of non-profits New Horizons Ministries and Good Life Ministries.
Joel is also known in the community for his feature column “Ask a Builder” published in the Time Community News, an opportunity he uses as a public service to educate the readership about all things “building.” As a leader in the Green Building movement many of the columns discuss responsible building practices, sustainable design, healthy living, Universal Design, and environmental stewardship — all of which help make for a stronger community.
Office Manager &
Hannah manages the financial side of the business. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business & Accounting from George Mason University and a Virginia CPA license. An avid bicyclist and outdoor enthusiast, she resides in Fairfax County.
Dennis joined the GRB team in 2000. With more than 20 years of experience in the home improvement industry, Dennis has a broad range of experience in both the design and construction phase of remodeling projects. He and his wife Carna have five children and are active members of Dayspring Mennonite Church.
John joined Golden Rule Builders in 2017, bringing with him his passion for art and client satisfaction.
John studied Advertising, Art, & Design in college and initially pursued a career as an Art Director, working at some of the top Ad agencies in New York. He continued his passion for art when he joined the police force in Fairfax County by creating national logos, murals, and paintings to help raise money for families of fallen officers.
In 2001 John started his own decorative art company in Northern VA, during which time his work was recognized both nationally and internationally giving him the opportunity to paint for the public in Italy, The Netherlands, and France. More recently John has worked in the remodeling industry, where he used his background in art to assist clients with merging functionality, design, and color into their remodeling projects.
John lives with his wife and five children in Warrenton VA where he enjoys volunteering both locally and in the Law Enforcement community.
Ramy joined the Golden Rule Team in June 2017 and is an associate member of American Institute of Architects (AIA). He brings with him a flair for blending the modern and traditional to create a unique design for each of our clients. He has a wide range of international design experience and is currently working towards becoming a licensed architect in the United States. He resides in Prince William County with his wife Christine and his daughter.
Jerry oversees your new home or remodel project, communicating each step of the project with you and keeping your project on schedule and on budget. He has more than 15 years of experience in the construction industry and resides in Fauquier County with his wife Mary Lu and 4 children.
Dennis “DT” Taylor
Marketing & IT Manager
Dennis works part-time for GRB to provide our marketing strategy and our digital and direct marketing programs. Additionally he manages GRB’s Information Technology infrastructure and has managed the deployment of tablet devices for our field team. Dennis is also the Chief Operating Officer for Paradigm Solutions, a business and management consulting firm in Catlett, Virginia, founded in 2002. Prior to that he was employed for 17 years by Intertek Technical Services where he served in various management capacities including President and COO for the last 7 years of his tenure. He volunteers his time to local business organizations including the Greater Warrenton Chamber of Commerce, Balanced Growth Alliance, The Partnership for Warrenton, Southern Fauquier Business Owner’s Association, and the Fauquier County Economic Development Authority and Broadband Committee. He and his wife Jean reside in Catlett and enjoy gardening, music, photography, cooking, traveling, and creating custom-designed gifts and gift baskets.
Jessica joined GRB in 2016 assisting the estimating manager and communication between Sales, Estimating, Purchasing and Production. She has 10 years’ experience in the building industry and hopes to grow with GRB. Jessica likes to spend time with family and friends, cook, fish and sing on the worship team at her church.
Steve has been with GRB for nearly 20 years and brings a broad range of skills and experience with him including trim carpentry and cabinet building. He and his wife Marlene have five children and reside in Culpeper County.
Kevin joined GRB in 2016. He has over 15 years of experience in construction and brings a broad range of skills and experience with him including framing and construction management. He formerly owned and operated his own construction company. He offers exceptional customer service skills. Kevin enjoys cycling in his free time and is the youth pastor at his church in Manassas, VA.
Dave joined the GRB in 2016. He has over 30 years of experience in finish carpentry, trim carpentry and cabinet making. He formally owned and operated his own company. Dave previously lived in Mobile, Alabama, but moved to Stafford, Virginia to be closer to family.
Jeff has been with GRB since 2014. He has 18 years of experience in residential remodeling and is passionate about serving his clients well. He is an avid D.C. sports fan and enjoys kayaking, hiking and fishing in his spare time. Jeff lives in Fauquier County, VA with his wife Thena and his two boys, Colton and Austin.
Devin is Currently Enrolled in Lord Fairfax pursuing a degree in architecture. He works under Architect Troy Johnson. He enjoys Baseball, Basketball, and playing Guitar on his church’s Praise Team.
Blyss has worked at GRB since 2012. She enjoys photography, traveling, cooking, and decorating.
