As a Green Building leader, Golden Rule considers the energy efficient construction of your new home one of our highest priorities.
Golden Rule Builders is an EnergyStar Partner and our new homes are certified by the EPA’s Energy Star Program. Golden Rule has been further credited by the U.S. Department of Energy for building one of the “best homes in the nation.” While building to strict guidelines set forth by Green Building programs such NAHB Green, EarthCraft of Virginia, and LEED for Homes, Golden Rule understands the importance of Site Design, Resource Efficiency, Water Efficiency, Indoor Air Quality, Accessibility, and Homeowner Education.
Golden Rule incorporates a number of green elements in our standard construction practices, such as a cellulose cocoon insulation package, vapor barrier house wrap, two-by-six inch framing of exterior walls, increased R-value of the building envelope, use of sun tunnel skylights, low-E insulated windows, and range exhaust vented to the outside.
You may also choose to incorporate various green features such as tankless water heaters, water-saving fixtures, high efficiency Energy Star-rated appliances, high performance HVAC, geothermal energy, and solar. When selecting products for your home, multiple green choices are available: low-VOC interior paint, flooring made of environmentally friendly materials, and compact fluorescent and LED lighting are some of the options available to make your home more earth friendly.
